30 November 2009: Wins for Barber & Jackson in Battle of the Cities

Three ACA athletes featured in Round 3 of the Battle of the Cities, held on Saturday 28 November at Mt Smart Stadium.

Jono Jackson, making good use of his trademark sprint finish, ran a personal best 3000m in 8m 29.82s, out kicking Alex Parlane over the final 200m. Parlane also ran a career best of 8m 33.15s. 

ACA's national women’s 10km and 15km road walking champion Alana Barber won the 3km track walk in 16m 52.19s, and Matthew Morreau was narrowly beaten by Michael Eggleton (Hamilton)  in the M19 800m.

ACA members also took part in the Bays middle distance meeting, held in extremely windy conditions at Sovereign Stadium last Tuesday evening.
The men's 3000m was won in a sprint finish by Michael Banks in 9m 00.78s, from Sam Morreau (9m 01.17s) and Reid Hunter (9m 07.47s), and Julian Harris was second to Josh Tatley in the men's 800m.
